I give it 3 stars because it has a Kilwin's. The staff was extremely courteous. And it's a beautiful store. I was hoping for more unique products that I can't find at a ton of other places. And the merchandise was way over priced.
Ps - if you want 'cheap' ice cream the gas station has a chest freezer full.
Charming store with great chocolate and ice cream. Was a student at Ferris and the visit brought back many fun memories!
The shakes & malts here are the best around. Not something I do all the time but it's a fantastic way to treat yourself. Great unique gifts & cards, and if you need gift ideas (like oh maybe for a wedding that you need to be at in an hour) they're super helpful. Best part, they'll wrap your gift for free and take care to make it look GOOD. Even went so far as to match wrapping paper with wedding colors. I've never had a complaint in 20 years of going there, but if I did I'm sure they'd do everything to make things right. Thanks for being a Big Rapids staple for, well, ever! :)
Have been here several times on our 'girls day shopping trips'. A cute store and nicely presented. The employees have always been very helpful and very friendly. As another reviewer stated, I also feel things are over-priced. Every time I'm in I've found one or two small items in the adjacent room I'd like for the garden or our cottage, but wasn't willing to pay the price. Would be nice to have some of those things at a better price point. We end up doing a lot of looking though.
I love The Old Pioneer, and have been a patron for many years. If they don't have what you are looking for (and they almost always do), all you have to do is ask and they will try to find it for you. The owners are more than accommodating. I read a review from a dissatisfied customer regarding kettle corn and ice cream. If this unhappy customer had just expressed their concerns they would not have been charged. The owners, Carlleen and Brian Rose, bend over backwards to ensure customer satisfaction.
